Hiring a human expert for SUSS assignment help in 2025? Know why it is still the right choice.
A Straits Times report published in September 2025 found that 70% of Singapore students hire human experts to help with their assignments. Another 21% use AI tools to write their assignments. That is not the surprising part. The surprising bit is that a similar survey in 2022 revealed that 56% students hire human writers to do assignments as against 27% who were using AI tools. What can explain this jump in percentage especially when the use of ChatGPT and AI tools has risen exponentially in the last few years?
Why are students still relying on human experts and not using ChatGPT to do their assignments?
This might seem bizarre to those who are not from the education industry. After all, they view ChatGPT as the holy grail that has limitless capabilities to do assignments. What is stopping students from using more of AI in their assignments? It seems that they know something that others don’t. We wanted to unravel this ‘mystery’ and conducted research on Singapore students. As part of our research, we interviewed 30 students from SUSS (Singapore University of Social Sciences) across different courses. The objective was to find out their motivations behind hiring human writers to do their assignments. So, let’s dive right into it.

Easy to detect AI generated content
One of the biggest reasons why students do not use AI for SUSS assignment help is that universities have gotten stricter against AI usage. While some professors might allow AI usage to an extent, the standard policy at SUSS is that “Students are not allowed to include any AI generated writing in their assignment.” Failure to do so may result not only in a FAIL grade, but also an academic misconduct charge.
Febrina, a student of Social Work, says “My university uses Turnitin to identify similarity score in assignments. If we submit AI generated work, it is immediately flagged, and we can be accused of academic misconduct.” Sukriti, a student of Marketing, adds, “while my professor allows us to use AI for generating ideas, we cannot use it to write the entire assignments. It is very easy for them to catch us. I don’t want to get into any trouble with AI usage as it can put my future at risk. It is easier to hire a trusted assignment writer instead, who will evade any plagiarism or AI detection test.”
AI Humanizers that claim to bypass AI detection do not work as they claim
“Why not just use one of those services that claim to ‘humanize’ your essays and avoid AI detection?” we asked as a follow up. Hillary, a student of Business Law, answers, “Using AI humanizers is not worth the risk. These AI humanizers rarely bypass Turnitin detection. Even if they did, Turnitin is quick to upgrade its system so what works for one assignment might not work for the next one. You will always be left guessing if you will escape detection or not. Not worth the hassle IMO. Simply hire a trusted human writer instead or do it yourself.”
The message is loud and clear: AI can only be your assistant; it cannot be your master. So, even if you use ChatGPT to write your assignments, you will need to edit large chunks of it simply to avoid detection. That means you will be spending almost the same time and effort in editing the assignment as writing an assignment from scratch.
Hiring a human writer is cheaper
Another reason that students hire human writers is that it makes financial sense to them. Ming, a student majoring in Early Childhood Education, put it this way, “I work part-time during my weekends and make $16/hour. If I spend my weekends doing these assignments instead, I will be losing out on a lot of valuable industry experience and the money that comes with it.”
Valerie, another student of Facilities Management, concurs, “My future employers are not going to be interested in what assignments I did, but will be looking for my skills and work experience. If I have to spend a few hundred bucks per month to a writing company, it frees up my schedule and I can use that time to learn industry relevant skills and gain experience.”
At this point, we had to ask, “Don’t you think it is unethical to hire someone to do your assignment?” And the answer is a resounding NO. James, a Finance major, offers this wise input, “If you are doing something useful with your time that you saved from not doing assignments, it is completely okay. It depends upon what you value the most.”
Lang, another student from the same major, agrees, “I think you are missing out on so much in life if you are bored in books and journal articles and doing those outdated assignments. We must keep ourselves updated with latest trends and technologies. Do yourself a favour and stop doing those useless assignments. You are here for a degree because companies ask for it, not for anything else.”
ChatGPT generated assignments fetch low grades
The third reason why students prefer to deal with a human writer rather than ChatGPT to do their assignments is because they want high quality. Valerie puts it succinctly when she says, “I cannot risk a low grade as my scholarship is tied to me maintaining a minimum 4.0 CGPA. I have tried to use ChatGPT in the past and the scores I get are middling that almost screwed my grades. My writer is far more reliable and consistent in delivering high quality assignments.”
Chung, a business student, agrees, “My writer consistently delivers 80% or more in my assignments. No doubt ChatGPT can write fluent English, but they lack in depth, as my professor pointed out. It is not good at applying theories taught in the classroom and will write repetitive content that will not get you more than 50-60%. If you are particular about getting high grades, you are better off finding a reliable assignment writer instead.”
Jason had this to add, “ChatGPT is good at writing generic papers using good English but cannot find one solid point from your lectures or a good reference to back up its argument. Moreover, it lacks critical thinking that my professor looks for. I could do much better on my own, but I have a busy schedule. So, I hire a reliable assignment writer who does it for me and he does a bloody good job. He has been doing my assignments for last 5 years.” Anisha, a Finance student, says “ChatGPT could only score 5/10 on my quiz, while my writer always scored 9s or 10s. It screwed up my grades badly.”
A professor’s take on ChatGPT generated assignments
If you view it from a professor’s perspective, they want to see assignments that show effort and relate to classroom discussions. When you ask ChatGPT to write it for you, they come across as bland and lacking in soul. An experienced professor can easily tell AI written content from human written content. AI written content screams ‘low effort’ comes across as ‘bland’ and devoid of anything related to theories taught in the classroom. No wonder the professor will award it a low grade. On the other hand, human written essays show evidence of ‘effort’ and even if they have a few grammatical mistakes, the professor will likely be more lenient in awarding marks.
ChatGPT is not good at writing context specific assignments
Another reason we found why students trust assignment experts instead of ChatGPT is that AI tools are not good at writing context specific assignments or assignments that require personal reflection. Valerie says, “As part of my course, I have to write about my experiences as a facilities Manager. This means I must show knowledge of Singapore laws such as Building Control Act, Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act, and other local regulations that apply to my role. When I asked ChatGPT to come up with hypothetical situations, it came up with nonsensical and unrealistic situations that I could not relate to. Moreover, AI tools almost always get facts wrong and mixed up with other countries’ regulations. A human writer is better at fact-checking and using up to date information about my field.”
Sally, who is pursuing Economics, says, “My assignment requires us to refer to Economics graphs or charts such as demand and supply curves. ChatGPT is not good at reading images, graphs or charts and this makes it very unreliable for helping with my quizzes or assignments.” David, a student of Accounting, agrees, “My professor asks us to refer to accounting standards, when preparing financial statements or journal entries. Even if I ask ChatGPT to cite only Singapore accounting standards, it ends up referring to US accounting standards, which might differ. It is best to hire a reliable accounting expert instead.”
ChatGPT is subject to increased moral policing
Then, there is the issue of self-policing that many ChatGPT users have recently experienced. Afzal, a Finance student, experienced it recently as he mentions, “I was using ChatGPT for one of my timed Finance quizzes. To my horror, it started giving me steps on how to do the questions rather than giving the correct answers. It literally said that we can only guide you but not give you the exact solution. I mean if I wanted to learn how to do it, I would not have paid for a premium subscription. It felt like I was being morally judged by a computer. A human writer would have never done so.”
Many other students have faced similar situations while using ChatGPT which has increasingly policed against its platform from being used for assignment help. This has left students in lurch who relied on it for help during timed quizzes or exams. It appears like educational institutions have lobbied against ChatGPT and forced it to self-regulate so that students cannot use it as an assignment writing assistant. This would never happen with the assignment writers though. So, hire a reliable online quiz expert to help you quizzes/exams.
Find a reliable assignment writer instead
It turns out that Singapore students know more about using AI tools than we give them credit for. It is not as if they don’t know about ChatGPT or have not tried to use it to write assignments. In fact, they have already tried using ChatGPT and other AI tools to write their assignments and have had poor results. This has forced them to go back to finding reliable human experts even if it means paying for their services. Reliable human writers can write high quality, context specific assignments that will always pass any AI or Turnitin detection. So, hire a reliable human writer if you to you sail through your courses with high grades.
Frequently Asked Questions
